Graham Stewart Coaches at V8 Race Experience.
By V8 Race Media SA
By V8 Race Media SA
Adelaide Super Sedan pilot, Graham Stewart made his debut event at V8 Race last weekend, August 28th and 29th at Mallala Motor Sports Park, when he took on the role as a "coach" for the two day event.
Stewart was responsible for coaching "Joe Public" on the do's and don'ts of driving a V8 BA Falcon around the technical, Mallala circuit.
Following his first day's coaching I asked Graham how he went? "His response was typical of the ever thinking speedway competitor". I really enjoyed it, and I will be back tomorrow for more". Stewart told me.
The job of the coaches at V8 Race is to ride in the passenger seat of a V8 race car and talk (via helmet headsets) to paying customers, and to give them the best racing, braking and cornering line around the tricky 2.6K race track. Eleven Adelaide based coaches are responsible for the 'in car training' of V8 Race's customers, and when you take into account that these race cars can reach speeds of 210 k's per hr, the job of coaching is a very responsible one indeed.
John Burton, V8 Race presenter told me today."It's so good to see people like Graham, who have managed a racing career across such a broad spectrum, get involved with V8 Race, and share their experience with the general public". Burton continued ... "Graham told me on the weekend that he had purchased Tomas Mezera's VT Commodore and will contest the 5 round series that it competes in, am I am sure Graham will do well.....he should, because he is a very focused guy."
With the speedway season only weeks away, Stewart is well down the track to getting the S55 Super sedan on track and competitive, and with his "Bitumen experience" he (Stewart) is definitely an all round competitor.

How does s55 Graham Stewart Spend the Easter Long Weekend?
The Answer:
Win his first ever Heat Race.
Graham started out of Position four in a 10 lap Heat Race. He led 8 laps and held off the likes of hard chargers Wayne Brims 2nd in the Q111 car, Dave Gartner "Aust-2" S8 for 3rd and Wayne Randall "Aust-3" in T88 who came home in 4th position.
This a great reward & testament to the hard work both the team & Graham have put in over the 2009 season learning about the characteristics and the setups of the s55 Chevy Camaro.

And to become the know as "The Aggressor" which is a side of Graham that we have never seen before as he took it up to the big guns on the pole line as he drove it in hard on turn two. It nearly came off except the two super sedans on the outside decided to have their own private battle and they touched and one of the Super Sedans cut down on Graham and caused a spin which brought on the yellows which was just one of those racing deals that you have no control over. We have watched throughout the 2009 - 2010 race season Graham learn out the characteristics and set ups of his newly acquired Chevy Camaro super sedan. And I am sure we can look forward to some more improvements again next summer from the s55.
And then to top off a quite Easter Sunday you hop into a purpose built Hot Orange VL Commodore wagon hook on a graffiti covered caravan and go race and then completely destroy the caravan. We even saw a trait of Super Sedan driving as Graham at one stage had the VL Commodore sideways into a corner and to our amazement the caravan followed.
Graham didn't win the event but had some fun racing in the Caravan & Dunny race. Congratulations go out to another member of the Team Hoolagators - Darren Flatman who won the event in a Corolla and he towed two trailers with a very unusual passenger on one.

Graham Stewart Debuts s#55 Super Sedan
Last weekend Graham Stewart Debut his s#55 Chevy Camaro Super Sedan at the Sprintcar Masters event held at Speedway City. Although Graham had a brush with wall early in hot laps. The team had to do some repairs in the pits which meant that Graham missed all the heat races. But they had the car repaired in time contest the Feature Race. After the Feature Race according to Graham he had a very positive outlook on the car and it's potential to make him become much improved competitor in the Super Sedan ranks in South Australia. He also is looking forward to the Australian Super Sedan Title which is due to held at Speedway City in March 2010 and you will see the best Super Sedan drivers in Australia try to lay claim to the Aussie Title.
