Description

Starting as a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro RS, the Texaco Camaro has undergone a massive transformation to replicate pristine muscle car with a classic racing livery.
While the body lines of this unmistakable classic remain intact for the most part, those with keen eyes may be able to tell what’s going on here.
The faux-patina painted hood is similar to the one that originally graced this car, though this one is a fully custom unit.
That is because of the added space DuSold needed to jam the supercharged LT5 V8 engine from a C7 Corvette ZR1 into this classic Camaro’s haunches.
In C7 ZR1, the motor produces 755 horsepower and 715 pound-feet of torque.
To ensure the Texaco Camaro is able to handle that monster of an engine, the car has also been fitted with a Detroit Speed subframe, along with Forgeline CR3 wheels wrapped in 315-section BF Goodrich rubber.
While we can’t say for sure what other tweaks have been made, they have to be plentiful.
Owner Jason Bottenfield had planned to use the car in this year’s USCA Drive Optima events in the GTV class, according to the builders Facebook page.
There have been a lot of 1969 Camaro builds over the years, but this one just brings a level of cool we’ve come to expect from DuSold Designs.
It is hard to argue against an LT5 powered classic that is wearing an awesome PPG paint job, regardless if it carries a classic American brand on its rear flanks or not.
That said, the fact that this Texaco Camaro comes from the heart of Texas does make it just that much sweeter.
